Now Showing

Opens March 25, 2008
On display until Oct 24, 2008

On display is a special exhibit of Canada’s most celebrated marine artist Jack Lorimer Gray (1927-1981). Gray was a formally trained artist who combined his love of art with a love of the sea. He lived, worked and sailed in and around Nova Scotia and the Atlantic coast. His sketches and paintings capture
fishermen, sailors, ships and ports in a direct manner with an energetic style and vibrant colors.

This solo exhibit features 23 original oil paintings comprising one of the largest exhibits of his work, including several pieces shown publicly for the first time.

Views on the Mississippi: An Exhibit of Rare and Historic Photographs by Henry Peter Bosse

A new exhibit of rare and historic photographs by Henry Peter Bosse are now on display. View cyanotype photographs taken between 1883-1891 from the US Army Corps of Engineers St. Paul District‘s collection. Many of the photographs have not been displayed publicly and include river scenes, towns, dams, bridges and boats. Bosse’s images document the Corps’ efforts to change the natural river into a commercial waterway. They are more than simple documentary photographs and are works of art with complex compositions and stunning views.
